Amal, your drawings are very expressive yet very simple, just the style that i like in all kinds of arts. ''el sahl el momtani3''. I think this specific last drawing posted expresses pessimism more because if 7anzala was turning his back, the optimistic thing was that inspite of everything, he was still capable of seeing the world with his pt of view. But here, the little girl is a black shadow as if invisible, and that palestine survives only as a symbol thru the scarf... hmmmm, i'm not sure i could express exactly what i want to say... In all cases, it's amazing... Great work!! Happy that i discovered your blog thru Hilal's(i don't usually surf into blogs)

after thinking amal,
moderate lebanese will accuse u of raising meiroun on a culture of death. you know. badna n3eesh. you stop ur iranian-syrian attitude now!
;)

oh.
sorry for spaming comments. just rememebered that moderate lebanese say that PLO made many mistakes in lebanon. thus, not EVEN ethical commitment with palestine is taken. halla2 hon bteijeh "t3ebna".
you know put "badna n3eesh" 7ad "t3ebna" and laugh madly on this arrogant black comedy.
but it will end soon. who failed in past can't but fail tomorrow.

Hilal -

She was never giving her back to anyone... But few can see through her eyes.

Anyway, bala falsafit el omoor ktir. T3ebna ;)

Thank you dear.. I'm sure Fadwa Toqan is impressed ... somewhere ..

Your words are very flattering.

I love the comparison you made with Hanthalah and the way you described Meiroun. You people make me wish to have a conversation with Naji! I wish i could.. he is my "teacher" afterall..

Welcome to Meiroun, Kholoud.

( Ok I think I have to stop saying the welcome part .. I feel this blog is turning into a hotel! :))

Oh and one more thing, meiroun's position is not determined here if she's giving us her back or her face because it's drawn in a way that shows either of them... but the SCARF is the one which determines that meiroun is facing us...

since you don't like el falsafeh, i will stop here :)

thanks Amal

Oh oooooh NOW when looking more i feel she's turning her back on us...

This confusion makes the drawing even richer..

hahahhaaa, i hope u'd see the big change before we even start discussing it on msn, and the last thing i'd like to do is to discuss politics with someone i haven't met before, where i'm running away from all the shit of hearing politics with people i already know... ma balik billy ma ba3refon??

yekhreb 3a2lek ya amal!!! (yekhreb 3a2lek fe masr is praise not sheteema btw! lol)

It's AMAZING!! I really love this one! We ba3dein I enjoyed the comments as much as the drawing. The way people see and interpret your drawing so differently and so vividly is all the making of the drawing itself! The best kind of art is that which gives the mind space to imagine and interpret and maybe create further.

It's truly inspiring ya Amal. In fact it stirred a short story in my mind! Unfortunately I can't succumb to that vice and write it down because I have so much work to do! Yuck!

Mazeed men al falsafah: work assasinates all possibilities of creativity! lol
:-D

But thanks for the inspiration anyway :)

oh, and one more thing! If you meet Kholoud soon, plz give her a big hug from me! :)))

Same goes for you, Kholoud!

Thank you for all the wonderful above :)) And yes I agree with your philosophy :P

I'll make sure your hug is delivered safe and sound! Hope to see you soon :)
